Position Title: Part- Time Events Associate

Organization Overview:
The Arlington Chamber of Commerce is a member-driven, nonprofit, business advocacy organization located in Arlington, Virginia. We promote and facilitate the success of our membership of approximately 700 area businesses. The mission of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce is to strengthen businesses and the economic environment for those who work, live, and do business in Arlington. Position Overview:
The Events Associate assists with the Chamber’s many events and programs. Events include monthly networking events, educational forums and seminars, and Signature Events such as the Annual Business Gala, Best Business Awards, Annual Meeting, and more.

Reports to: Events & Programs Director

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the Chamber’s Signature Events:
    • Coordinating outreach and submissions for award nominations for the Best Business Awards, Public Safety Awards, and Hospitality Awards
    • Managing the silent auction for the Annual Business Gala
    • Ordering event materials such as plaques, programs, and signs
    • Preparing PowerPoint slides
  • Assisting with the coordination of monthly networking events:
    • Supporting the Events & Programs Director with host coordination for monthly Business After Business events and bi-monthly Women in Business Networking events
    • Preparing outreach lists and sending targeted promotional emails
    • Soliciting and booking member speakers for the monthly Small Business Roundtable and managing communication with speakers
  • Assisting in the coordination of educational forums and seminars:
    • Ensuring event materials are prepared in advance of every program
    • Coordinating with panelists, speakers, and hosts
  • Updating all event calendars and submitting event listings to community calendars
  • Helping to promote Chamber events and programs
  • Drafting electronic invitations using Constant Contact
  • Assisting with Chamber onsite event coverage as needed (schedule permitting)
  • Performing other administrative tasks and projects as assigned

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A keen attention to detail
  • The ability to execute and complete multiple projects with competing deadlines simultaneously
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with Constant Contact preferred

This is a part-time position (16-20 hours/week) with a set schedule to be established during normal business hours. Compensation is $20 per hour.
